Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — Pakistani police and Orakzai Scouts have killed 10 militants affiliated with the banned Lashkar-e-Islam Pakistan and Hafiz Gul Bahadur group during a joint operation in the Orakzai tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said.
According to an Orakzai police spokesperson, the operation was launched following an incident in which militants had established an illegal checkpoint and blocked traffic along the Sangra Main Road a day earlier.
The joint operation was conducted in the Banjali area near the Khyber Akakhel border, within the jurisdiction of the Mishti Mela Police Station, the spokesperson said.
Police and Orakzai Scouts personnel jointly targeted the suspected militants as part of efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the area and restore security.
Officials said the operation resulted in the deaths of 10 militants allegedly associated with the two banned groups.
The spokesperson added that security personnel recovered the bodies of two of the slain militants and transported them from the scene. Further details regarding the identities of those killed and the circumstances surrounding the operation were not immediately available.
The operation followed the reported blockade of Sangra Main Road, which prompted security forces to move against the suspected militants.
Orakzai police said operations against terrorist elements would continue to protect residents, safeguard public property and maintain law and order in the district.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to pursuing individuals involved in terrorist activities and preventing further disruption to civilian life.
