Germany Raises Terror Threat Level to High

BERLIN (Terror Monitor) — German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has warned that Germany is facing a high-threat security environment, saying sabotage attacks could occur at any time.
In an interview with Welt am Sonntag, Dobrindt said he had raised the country's security assessment from a "general threat" to a "high-threat" level following a significant increase in intelligence reports and security information.
"This means that the possibility of an attack in Germany at any time can no longer be ruled out," he said.
The interior minister added that authorities have identified concrete indications of planned attacks.
Dobrindt noted that he had already signaled the possibility of raising the threat level during a meeting of federal and state interior ministers last month.
He attributed the decision to a sharp increase in intelligence received from German and allied security agencies regarding potential attacks, as well as a rise in confirmed sabotage incidents. He also warned that espionage and sabotage networks operating inside Germany and abroad have become more organized and are increasingly planning hostile activities.
