IAEA Reviews Reported Strike on Iran's Darkhovin Nuclear Power Plant Construction Site

VIENNA (Terror Monitor) — The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said it is reviewing reports of an overnight alleged strike on the construction site of the proposed Darkhovin nuclear power plant in Iran.
In a statement posted on X, the agency said the facility is still in the early stages of construction and that no nuclear material was present at the site during the IAEA's most recent inspection.
"The reported attack poses no radiological risk," the agency said, while IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi reiterated his call for maximum restraint and urged all parties to avoid military operations around nuclear facilities.
Meanwhile, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) confirmed that the under-construction Darkhovin nuclear power plant in Iran's southwestern Khuzestan Province was struck in what it described as a U.S. attack, strongly condemning the incident.
According to Iran's state news agency IRNA, the organization said in a statement on Sunday that the attack occurred at approximately 3:39 a.m. local time, accusing the United States of violating international law.
The AEOI described the Darkhovin nuclear power plant as "a symbol of the Iranian nation's dignity and scientific self-reliance," claiming that multiple projectiles were used to target the construction site.
The organization also alleged that the United States has carried out multiple attacks over the past year on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities operating under international monitoring, describing the strikes as part of a broader conflict launched in coordination with Israel.
