Tehran / Dubai (Terror Monitor) — The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Defence said its air defense systems were responding to missiles and drones launched from Iran, but no details have yet been released regarding the number of projectiles, possible targets, or any damage.
Iran’s Fars News Agency claimed that multiple missiles successfully struck targets in Qatar and the UAE, causing several explosions at U.S. military bases in both countries. The claims have not been independently verified.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Defence said its armed forces had intercepted and neutralized a missile attack targeting the country.
AFP correspondents in Doha reported hearing explosions in the sky over the Qatari capital and said missile interceptors were visible. Residents in Doha received alerts advising them to remain indoors and seek shelter.
Sirens were also reported in Bahrain, where residents were instructed to move to safe locations.
The developments came after U.S. strikes on Iran in response to an attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that, in retaliation for U.S. attacks, it had destroyed a U.S. Air Force command-and-control center and an MQ drone hangar at an American air base in Jordan.
According to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency, the IRGC said U.S. forces had attempted to provoke incidents involving several vessels through an "illegal route" south of the Strait of Hormuz, but were stopped by a decisive response from Iranian naval forces.
The statement claimed that U.S. forces then attempted to compensate for the setback by launching airstrikes against several coastal bases and telecommunications towers along Iran’s southern coastline.
Iranian officials said the attacks received an immediate response as part of what they described as a promised retaliation for U.S. aggression.
