Militants Attack Police Station and Government Offices in Pakistan’s Balochistan

Quetta (Terror Monitor) — Unknown armed militants have attacked a police station and other government offices in Bhagh Nari, an area of Kachhi district in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province.

An exchange of fire took place between the attackers and police personnel during the assault, leaving five civilians injured.

Officials said the injured were transported to hospitals in Quetta and various parts of Sindh for medical treatment.

Noor Ahmed, a resident of Bhagh Nari, told the British news agency that the armed men entered parts of the town and targeted the police station and other locations.

He said gunfire could be heard in different parts of the town for between one and one-and-a-half hours following the attack.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said police and Counter-Terrorism Force (CTF) personnel had foiled the attack.

He praised the police and CTF personnel for their response, saying that all available resources would be used to eliminate militancy in the province.

Babar Yousafzai, media adviser to the Balochistan Home Department, said the attackers belonged to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

He said several militants were wounded during the retaliatory operation and were taken away by their associates.

Meanwhile, Shahid Rind, Special Assistant to the Balochistan Chief Minister on Media, said the injured civilians had been shifted to hospitals in Sukkur, Larkana and Quetta.

He said the injured were receiving treatment under the supervision of specialist doctors and that the Balochistan government was providing them with all possible medical facilities.

Bhagh Nari is administratively part of Kachhi district in Balochistan.
