Pakistan: 2 Militants Killed in Bannu Operation; 6 Injured in Quadcopter Attack in D.I. Khan

Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — Two militants, including a local commander of the banned Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan (IMP), were killed during a joint intelligence-based operation by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), local police and Pakistan Army personnel in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while a separate reported quadcopter attack injured six people, including four women, in Dera Ismail Khan district, officials and local sources said.

Local IMP Commander Among Two Militants Killed in Bannu

According to the CTD, the militants were killed in an exchange of gunfire during a joint operation in the Karam Garhi Mamand Khel area, within the jurisdiction of Bannu Cantt Police Station.

In a press release, the department said security authorities had received credible intelligence indicating that militants were present in the area and planning a major attack.

Following the information, a joint team comprising personnel from CTD Bannu, district police and the Pakistan Army was dispatched to arrest the suspects.

The CTD said that as the security personnel reached the location, the militants opened indiscriminate fire, prompting the security forces to retaliate. The exchange of fire continued for an extended period.

After the firing stopped, security personnel conducted a search of the area and found two militants dead, according to the department.

One of the deceased was identified as Mohib Khan alias Sameen, son of Sher Abdullah and a resident of Garera Imam Shah in Bannu district. The CTD identified him as a local commander of the banned Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan (IMP).

According to the department, Mohib Khan was also the nephew of Zar Gul alias Uncle, described as a commander of the organization. The CTD said 22 terrorism-related cases had been registered against Mohib Khan in Bannu.

Authorities alleged that he was involved in several militant activities, including targeted killings, explosive attacks against police and security forces, kidnappings, property damage and the establishment of illegal checkpoints at various locations.

The identity of the second militant killed in the operation has not yet been established, the CTD said.

According to the sources, the incident occurred in the Kot Sultan area of Kulachi tehsil.

The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, the sources said.
