Pakistan: 4 Militants Killed, 5 Suspects Arrested in Security Operation in Bannu

Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — Four militants were killed and five suspected individuals arrested during a joint intelligence-based operation carried out by police, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and security forces in the mountainous Talgai area of Wazir Sub-Division in Pakistan's northwestern Bannu district.

The operation was led by District Police Officer Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Furqan Bilal and involved personnel from the CTD, district police, the Rapid Response Force (RRF), and security forces.

According to police, militants opened heavy fire on the advancing forces, triggering a gun battle that lasted nearly seven hours. Four militants were reported killed, while five suspects were taken into custody.

Police said two militant bodies were recovered from the scene, while fleeing militants managed to take away the bodies of two of their companions. Security forces also recovered two Kalashnikov rifles, one rifle, and other weapons and equipment from the site.

During the exchange of fire, Basia Khel Police Station SHO Rashid Khan and Constable Wajid Khan sustained minor injuries and were shifted to hospital. Police said both officers are in stable condition and out of danger.

Authorities said a search and clearance operation remains underway to eliminate any remaining threats. Police, the CTD, and security forces reaffirmed their commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations and ensuring the safety of civilians.
