Islamabad (Terror Monitor) — Pakistani security forces have killed 49 militants in separate operations in the restive provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to the military.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, said that security forces, in coordination with police, conducted multiple intelligence-based operations over the past few days to dismantle militant networks and prevent attempts to undermine peace and stability.
According to the statement, 49 militants were killed during the operations, while a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosive materials was also recovered.
The ISPR said 12 militants were killed during several intelligence-based operations in Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai and Khyber districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Balochistan, 37 militants were killed during 10 operations carried out in Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur districts, according to the military.
The statement said security forces also recovered and destroyed a large quantity of explosives, remote-control devices used to detonate improvised explosive devices (IEDs), weapons, ammunition and motorcycles during the operations.
Security officials told Terror Monitor that the militants killed in the operations were affiliated with the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
The officials said the operations targeted militant networks, hideouts and their movement in the two provinces.
The figures and affiliations cited by Pakistani security authorities could not be independently verified.
