PESHAWAR (Terror Monitor) — Security forces have killed eight terrorists, including three key commanders, during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan district of Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, security sources said on Sunday.
According to security sources, the operation was launched after intelligence reports indicated the presence of terrorists in the district. During the operation, security forces targeted members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Gandapur Group, killing eight of them.
The sources said three senior commanders were among those killed, although their identities and the specific positions they held within the group were not immediately disclosed.
Following the operation, security personnel recovered foreign currency, a large quantity of weapons, and ammunition from the possession of the dead terrorists, the sources added. However, the amount of foreign currency and the types of weapons recovered were not specified.
Security forces reiterated their commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam vision, aimed at eliminating terrorism and establishing lasting peace across the country.
Dera Ismail Khan, located in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has experienced persistent security challenges amid militant activity in the region. Authorities have continued intelligence-led operations against suspected militant networks as part of broader efforts to counter terrorism.
The details of the operation, including the identities of those killed and the full extent of the recovered weapons and ammunition, were not immediately available for independent verification.
