PESHAWAR (Terror Monitor) — Four militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation conducted by police in Karak district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the Central Police Office, the militants opened fire on the police team during the operation, prompting security personnel to retaliate and kill them.
Police officials said the joint intelligence-based operation by Karak and Kohat police was carried out in the Khattak Dam area near the Karak-Kohat border, within the jurisdiction of Sabirabad Police Station. During the exchange of fire, four highly wanted militants belonging to the Commander Zahid Group were killed.
The Central Police Office said the militants were wanted in connection with cases involving the killings of several police officers and personnel.
Police alleged that the deceased militants were involved in the killing of SHO Banda Umar Nawaz of Karak and Inspector Tahir Nawaz of Kohat in 2025, as well as the deaths of DSP Asad Mahmood, Sub-Inspector Inar Gul, and other police officials in 2026.
Following the operation, the area was cordoned off while a search operation was launched to collect further evidence and locate possible accomplices.
The Central Police Office said investigations have also been initiated to gather more information about the militant network.
