Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — Armed militants have abducted a police Station House Officer (SHO) from a mosque in Kurram district of Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to police sources, the incident took place in the Tardali area of central Kurram, where SHO Muhammadi Khan had gone to a mosque to offer prayers.
The sources said unidentified armed men entered the mosque during prayers and allegedly forced Muhammadi Khan to leave with them. The abductors then took him to an undisclosed location.
Following the incident, police launched efforts to recover the abducted officer and began searching for the suspects in the area.
Police officials said the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is initially suspected of being involved in the abduction. However, officials said there has been no final confirmation of the group’s involvement, and further investigations are underway.
Police said operations were being conducted at various locations to locate the abductors and recover the SHO.
Kurram has faced serious security challenges in recent years, including the activities of armed militant groups, sectarian tensions and tribal disputes.
Police officials said the safe recovery of the abducted SHO remains their top priority and that those involved in the abduction would face legal action.
