Pakistan: Police Officer, Gunman Killed in Terrorist Attack in Karak

Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — A station house officer (SHO) and his gunman were killed when armed militants opened fire on a police patrol near New Karrapa, close to the boundary between Karak and Kohat districts in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said.
The victims were identified as the SHO of Banda Daud Shah police station and his gunman, Farhad. A passerby was also wounded in the shooting, according to police.
District Police Officer (DPO) Karak Imran Khan reached the scene with additional police personnel after receiving information about the attack.
Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down and arrest the attackers. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects or announced any arrests.
According to police officials, the team was carrying out routine patrol duties when armed men opened fire on them near New Karrapa, an area close to the boundary between Karak and Kohat districts.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has faced repeated attacks targeting police officers and security forces, particularly in districts near Pakistan’s former tribal areas. Authorities have continued security operations aimed at preventing militant attacks and identifying those responsible for violence against law enforcement personnel.
