Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — A police vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Bahadur Khel area of Karak district in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing one policeman and injuring six others.

According to preliminary reports, the police vehicle was traveling from Banda Police Station toward Dargah to conduct a search operation when it was targeted by an IED planted along the road.

Following the blast, the injured policemen were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. Police and security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation following the attack.

Meanwhile, two bodies were recovered from different areas of Lakki Marwat district on the same day. Both men had reportedly been shot dead.

Police said the first body was recovered from a forest near Kurram Bridge within the jurisdiction of Lakki City Police Station, while the second was found beneath an under-construction bridge near Mangla within the jurisdiction of Dadiwala Police Station.

According to police, both victims were believed to be between 24 and 30 years old. Police teams reached both locations after receiving information, took the bodies into custody and shifted them for further examination.

Police said efforts were underway to identify the victims and determine the motives behind the killings, with investigators examining the incidents from different angles.

In Peshawar, the provincial capital, a police mobile patrol party was targeted in a grenade attack near the Northern Bypass, leaving one policeman injured.

Police said the incident occurred near the Northern Bypass within the jurisdiction of Khazana Police Station, where unidentified attackers targeted the mobile patrol party of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Faqirabad with a hand grenade.

Police officials said the area was cordoned off and a search and clearance operation was underway to locate the attackers.

Police have also begun collecting evidence from the scene, while investigations are continuing to determine the identities of those involved and their possible hideouts.

Security and police patrols have been increased in the area, officials said.

Separately, four members of the same family were injured after a mortar round was reportedly dropped by a suspected quadcopter drone in Supali Panr area of Toi Khula in the tribal district of South Waziristan.
