Pakistan: Security Forces Kill 24 Militants in Bannu Operation

PESHAWAR (Terror Monitor) — Pakistani security forces killed 24 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations in the restive Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military said on Friday.

According to the military, the operations were launched following a recent surge in militant attacks targeting police, including a vehicle-borne suicide bombing attempt in Bannu. The raids were aimed at tracking down those responsible for the violence.

In a statement posted on X, the military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), claimed that 24 militants were killed during intense exchanges of fire over the past 24 hours in Bannu and surrounding areas.

The statement said security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the slain militants, alleging that they had been involved in terrorist activities and the killing of civilians.

ISPR added that clearance operations would continue and vowed to bring those responsible for what it described as "heinous and cowardly acts" to justice.

The military did not report any casualties among security personnel, and the claims could not be independently verified.
