Quetta (Terror Monitor)— Seven bodies bearing signs of torture have been recovered from three different districts of Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province, according to government officials.
The bodies were found in Kalat, Surab and Kharan districts and have been shifted to hospitals for identification.
Three of the bodies were recovered from Kalat district. Kalat police chief Zahid Shah said two bodies were found in the Rej area, while another was discovered in Chappar.
He said preliminary information suggested that the victims died from gunshot wounds and torture. The identities of the three men have not yet been established, and the bodies were moved to a hospital for identification.
Three more bodies were recovered from neighboring Surab district.
A police official in Surab, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the three individuals were killed by gunfire, but there was no information available about where or under what circumstances they were killed.
The official said their identities also remained unknown. The bodies brought to Surab reportedly had bullet marks on their faces.
The seventh body was recovered near the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) road in Kharan district. Officials identified the victim as Hafiz Kabir Ejbari.
According to local police, unidentified armed men had attacked Hafiz Kabir’s house in Kharan a few days earlier, killing one of his sons.
Police said the attackers abducted Hafiz Kabir and another son after the assault. Two days later, Hafiz Kabir’s body was found near the CPEC road, while the whereabouts of his other son remain unknown.
