Pakistan: Terror Attacks in KP, Policeman Killed, Drone Attack Foiled

Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — A traffic police constable was killed and a worker seriously injured in separate incidents involving terrorism and explosive devices in different districts of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while an attempted drone attack on a police post in Bannu was also thwarted.

In Bannu’s Sia Khel area, unidentified armed militants opened fire on traffic police constable Saifullah, killing him.

Police sources said the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Sia Khel, where the attackers targeted the police officer in his native village. Saifullah was serving with the traffic police.

Following the attack, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to locate the attackers. Further investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, militants attempted to attack the Kashu Pul police post in Bannu using a quadcopter drone. According to police sources, the attackers dropped explosive projectiles from the drone, but the projectiles landed outside the police post, causing no casualties or property damage.

Police personnel responded immediately, prompting the drone to retreat. Security was subsequently tightened in the area, and an operation was launched to trace the suspected attackers.

Separately, a worker was seriously injured in a landmine explosion in Dandar Sahara, a suburban area of Parachinar, the administrative headquarters of Kurram tribal district.

Police said the victim, identified as Hamid Hussain, was injured in the explosion and immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Hospital sources said one of Hussain’s legs was completely severed in the blast and that he sustained serious injuries to other parts of his body. He is receiving medical treatment.
