Pakistan: Terrorist Attack in Buner: CTD Officer Killed in Gun Attack

Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — A Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officer was killed in a gun attack by unidentified terrorists in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while the attackers managed to escape from the scene. A search operation has been launched in the area.
According to initial reports, the incident took place in Totali Khudokhel area of Buner district, where CTD Sub-Inspector Maskin Zada was present at a shop. An armed attacker entered the shop and opened indiscriminate fire at him.
The officer was killed on the spot, while the attacker fled after carrying out the assault.
Sources said the suspected attacker had allegedly been under surveillance by security agencies for several days, and the Counter-Terrorism Department had conducted raids in different areas to arrest him. However, he managed to evade law enforcement.
Following the attack, police and other security agencies cordoned off the area and collected evidence from the crime scene. A search operation is underway to trace and arrest the attacker.
Police officials said the incident is being investigated from different angles and efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
