Pakistan: Two Police Officers Killed in Separate Attacks in Mardan & Bajaur

Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — Two police officers were killed in separate shooting attacks in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said.
In Bajaur tribal district, police officer Rahmatullah was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Inayat Kallay Bazaar.
Police said Rahmatullah, a resident of Laghari area of Mamund tehsil, was travelling home while on leave when unidentified attackers opened fire on him. He died at the scene.
His body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar for a post-mortem examination.
Following the attack, police cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence. A search was also launched to identify and apprehend those involved in the shooting.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
In a separate incident in Mardan district, Assistant Sub-Inspector Dost Muhammad, additional in-charge of the Khatano police post in Takht Bhai tehsil, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.
Police said Dost Muhammad was returning from duty when attackers opened fire on him near the Sri Bahlool Labour Colony. He died at the scene, while the attackers fled.
Mardan District Police Officer Masood Ahmed and other senior police officials arrived at the scene following the attack. Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for the attackers.
Police said a case had been registered with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
The banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.
