Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — Two police officers were killed in separate shooting attacks in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said.

In Bajaur tribal district, police officer Rahmatullah was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Inayat Kallay Bazaar.

Police said Rahmatullah, a resident of Laghari area of Mamund tehsil, was travelling home while on leave when unidentified attackers opened fire on him. He died at the scene.

His body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar for a post-mortem examination.

Following the attack, police cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence. A search was also launched to identify and apprehend those involved in the shooting.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
