Russia Strike Near Ukraine’s Kyiv Kills at Least 27, Damages Dozens of Buildings

KYIV (Terror Monitor) — At least 27 people were killed in a Russian attack in the Bucha district near Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, local authorities said. The attack damaged dozens of residential buildings and triggered large fires in the area.

Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, said at least 50 residential buildings were affected in the incident. Fires sparked after the attack spread to nearby homes and a restaurant.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a warehouse in the village of Mila, in Bucha district, was hit, causing a major explosion. He did not provide details about the materials stored at the warehouse but said a criminal investigation had been launched over allegations of official negligence.

Zelenskyy said Ukrainian regulations clearly prohibit the storage of ammunition near residential buildings or populated areas.

His remarks indicated that Ukrainian authorities are also investigating whether ammunition stored at an allegedly unsuitable location contributed to the powerful explosions and loss of life following the Russian attack.

The incident comes as Kyiv enters a third consecutive day of near-continuous air raid alerts and warnings. The prolonged alerts have severely disrupted daily life in the capital and affected economic activity.
