Riyadh (Terror Monitor) — The Saudi-led military coalition has announced strikes against fuel storage and transportation facilities operated by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels in the capital, Sanaa, and the provinces of Hodeidah and Dhamar.
The coalition said the Houthis had been using the facilities to support their military operations, including activities linked to missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia.
Major General Turki Al-Maliki, the coalition’s spokesperson, said in a statement posted on X that the strikes targeted several fuel-related installations, including the central Al-Sabaha station in Sanaa, underground fuel depots, storage tanks and docks designated for fuel transportation and unloading.
Al-Maliki accused the Houthis of exploiting the facilities to facilitate missile and drone attacks against Saudi territory. He also alleged that the group was using its military capabilities to threaten airports, seaports and maritime traffic in the Red Sea.
According to the coalition, the operation was intended to weaken the Houthis’ military capabilities and disrupt infrastructure allegedly used to sustain their military activities.
Al-Maliki emphasized that the coalition had taken the necessary precautions to protect civilians from harm during the operation, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
The announcement comes amid continued regional tensions involving the Iran-backed Houthi movement, Saudi Arabia and the security of vital maritime routes in the Red Sea. However, the coalition’s statements alone do not independently establish the extent of the damage caused by the strikes or the precise military use of the targeted facilities.
The coalition has not provided independently verified details of casualties or the full extent of the damage in the information cited in its announcement.
