Security Operations and Blasts in Pakistan’s KP Leave 8 Militants and PC Member Killed , 10 Injured

PESHAWAR (Terror Monitor) — At least six militants affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in security operations across several districts of Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while bomb blasts in South Waziristan, Bajaur and Kurram killed a peace committee member and injured at least 10 people.

Two TTP Commanders Killed in CTD Operation in Karak

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said two senior commanders of the banned TTP were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Karak district.

According to a CTD press release, authorities received information that TTP commander Kaleemullah, alias Saif-ul-Umar, and deputy commander Shoaib, alias Saif, along with other associates, had blocked a road near Neki Sahib Ziarat within the jurisdiction of Khurram Police Station and were preparing to plant explosives.

Following the intelligence, CTD teams from the Kohat region, accompanied by additional personnel, moved toward the area.

The CTD said the armed men opened fire when security personnel arrived, prompting the officers to retaliate.

A prolonged exchange of fire took place between the two sides. After the firing stopped, security personnel searched the area and found the bodies of two militants, identified as Kaleemullah and Shoaib.

Other militants reportedly fled under the cover of darkness.

The CTD said two submachine guns, two hand grenades, six magazines and several rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

The Pakistani government officially uses the term “Fitna al-Khawarij” for militants affiliated with the banned TTP.

Four TTP Militants Killed in Dera Ismail Khan

Separately, security forces killed four TTP militants during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan district, while another injured militant managed to escape.

According to security sources, a group of TTP militants was traveling from Kulachi toward Maddi when security forces intercepted them following intelligence about their movement.

An exchange of fire took place during the operation. Initially, two militants were killed and three others were wounded.

According to the sources, two of the wounded militants, identified as Waheed Khan and Atifullah, later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total number of militants killed in the operation to four.

Another wounded militant escaped from the scene, prompting security forces to launch a search operation in the area.

IED Blast in South Waziristan Kills Peace Committee Member, Injures 8

In another incident, an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Makin Bazaar area of Upper South Waziristan district killed a member of a local peace committee and injured eight others.

Police said unidentified individuals had planted an IED on a motorcycle, which exploded at around 10:45 a.m. on Friday.

Nine people were injured in the blast. Among them were peace committee members Inayatullah, Sharafat Khan and Bangi Khan.

The injured peace committee members were shifted to Razmak Hospital for further medical treatment, while the other wounded were taken to a local medical facility.

DSP Hidayatullah said peace committee member Inayatullah later died of his injuries after being transferred to the hospital.

The explosion also damaged several shops in Makin Bazaar and goods inside them.

Following the blast, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, while security was tightened in the bazaar and surrounding areas.

Police officials said an investigation had been launched into the incident and various aspects of the blast were being examined.

Two Children Injured in Bajaur Bomb Blast

Meanwhile, two children were injured in a bomb blast in the Dama Dola Khwar area of Wara Mamund tehsil in Bajaur district.

Police identified the injured children as Abu Zar, son of Zia ur Rehman, and Jarra, son of Sirajuddin.

Both children were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar for medical treatment. Police said further investigation into the incident was underway.

Authorities are examining the nature of the explosive device and the circumstances surrounding the blast.

Two Injured in Cracker Blast in Kurram

In Kurram tribal district, a cracker blast near the gate of the Sadda Tehsil Complex injured two people, including a police officer.

According to DSP Inayat, the explosion occurred near the entrance of the tehsil complex, which houses the Sadda Police Station, a National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) center and other important government offices.

The injured were immediately shifted to Sadda Tehsil Hospital, where they were receiving medical treatment.

Police said an investigation had been launched to determine the nature of the blast and identify those responsible.

Authorities noted that the gate of the same complex had previously been targeted in a grenade attack.

The series of security operations and attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa highlights the continuing security challenges in Pakistan’s northwestern province, where security forces and police continue to conduct intelligence-based operations and search operations against militant groups.
