DAMASCUS (Terror Monitor) — Suspected Israeli airstrikes early Monday triggered a series of powerful explosions at a weapons depot in the southern outskirts of Aleppo, with at least four people reportedly injured, according to Syrian state media and local sources.
The explosions occurred near the town of Al-Eis, south of Aleppo, where local sources said a weapons depot linked to Syria’s Defense Ministry is located.
Syrian state news agency SANA also reported that explosions occurred in the early hours of Monday near an army position in the Al-Eis area.
The cause of the explosions has not been officially established. However, several local sources claimed that the depot was hit in suspected Israeli airstrikes and that weapons belonging to Turkish-backed military forces were stored at the site.
There was no immediate official statement from Israel regarding the reported strikes. The reports of the airstrikes, the nature of the target and the number of casualties could not be independently verified.
Local authorities urged civilians to stay away from the area because of the potential danger from the explosions and possible unexploded ordnance.
Suspected Israeli Shelling Reported in Southern Syria
Separately, SANA reported that Israeli forces allegedly shelled areas in western Daraa province early Monday.
According to the Syrian state news agency, Israeli forces used artillery to shell the Abdeen and Al-Raqad valleys and opened machine-gun fire toward nearby areas. No casualties were reported.
SANA also said Israeli forces targeted the outskirts of several villages in the Yarmouk Basin.
The reported shelling followed similar alleged Israeli artillery attacks in parts of Quneitra province a day earlier, according to SANA.
The latest incidents come amid continued tensions in southern Syria and further reports of Israeli military activity inside Syrian territory. The allegations regarding the airstrikes and shelling have not been independently verified.
