Three Iranian military pilots reportedly killed in US strikes

Tehran (Terror Monitor) — Three Iranian military pilots were reportedly killed in US strikes on Iran two nights ago, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency.

Tasnim, a media outlet considered close to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported that the three pilots were killed during the attacks but did not provide further details about where or how they were killed.

The pilots were identified as Mojtaba Bagheri, Navy officer Hamid Okati and Air Force officer Hossein Mahdavian.

In a separate report, Tasnim also published the names of six other members of Iran’s regular army and said they were killed in attacks in southern parts of the country. The report did not provide further details about the circumstances of their deaths.

The reported casualties came after the United States launched a new wave of strikes against Iran during the night between August 31 and September 1, following a prolonged pause in direct US military attacks on Iranian territory.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said two days ago that American forces had carried out strikes against multiple locations in southern Iran.

Iranian authorities said seven people were killed and eight others wounded in strikes targeting areas including Koohestak in Sirik, as well as Ahvaz and Aghajari in Khuzestan province.

One of those killed was identified as a member of the Popular Security Forces, according to Iranian reports.

The IRGC separately confirmed that four members of its Aerospace Force were killed in Kermanshah province. Iranian reports also said that three Basij personnel were killed following a US strike on Lavan Island.

The latest reports indicate that the recent US strikes caused casualties among several branches of Iran’s military and security forces. However, the full extent of the losses remains unclear.

Neither Washington nor Tehran has released a comprehensive assessment of the military casualties resulting from the latest attacks.
