Trump Threatens Iran With Destruction, Tehran Issues Strong Warning

Washington D.C (Terror Monitor) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday warned Iran of severe consequences, saying Washington would either reach a deal with Tehran or “finish the job,” while stressing that he preferred a diplomatic agreement.
Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump said, “Either we make a deal or we finish the job, and finishing the job would not be difficult for us. But my preference is a deal because I do not want to affect the Iranian people, a population of 91 million.”
Trump also claimed that the United States could destroy Iranian bridges and cripple its energy system within an hour. He said Iran currently lacked financial resources and that Washington had not provided it with any financial assistance.
The remarks came after indirect talks between the United States and Iran ended last week without significant progress. The discussions were held during a 60-day ceasefire period aimed at reducing tensions following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and creating a path toward a diplomatic solution.
In response, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr described Trump’s remarks as “an illusion,” warning that the Iranian people do not respond to threats.
“Iranian people are not accustomed to threats. Speak to them with respect, otherwise we will respond in another language,” Zolqadr said.
Iran is currently holding funeral ceremonies for its former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. A funeral prayer was held for him on Tuesday morning at Jamkaran Mosque in Qom.
After Qom, Khamenei’s body is expected to be taken to Iraq, and following ceremonies in Najaf and Karbala, he will be buried in Mashhad.
According to Reuters, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said continued U.S. threats would prevent the start of negotiations for a final agreement between Tehran and Washington.
In a statement posted on social media platform X on Tuesday, Araghchi said, “If threats continue, negotiations for a final agreement will not begin. Respect your signature.”
Araghchi was referring to an interim agreement reached between Iran and the United States last month, under which both sides pledged to refrain from using force or threatening to use force against each other.
