UAE Denies Iranian Claim of Drone Attack on Al Minhad Air Base

Abu Dhabi (Terror Monitor) — Iran’s military has claimed that it targeted a location at Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates where U.S. helicopters and military personnel were allegedly present, describing the operation as retaliation for a U.S. strike on Iran’s Lark Island.

According to the Iranian military’s public relations department, the attack was carried out in response to U.S. forces targeting two Iranian missile launchers on Lark Island the previous night.

The Iranian statement came after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks against two U.S. military bases in Jordan.

In its statement, the Iranian military claimed that “dozens of destructive drones” were used to target the location of U.S. helicopters and forces at Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE.

However, the UAE Ministry of Defence rejected the claim, saying that media reports concerning an attack on Al Minhad Air Base were inaccurate.

The ministry issued the statement on X, hours after the Iranian military announced its alleged attack.

The UAE Ministry of Defence said its air-defense systems had intercepted one drone that entered the country’s airspace.

The ministry did not provide further details about the drone, including whether it was destroyed or whether it managed to reach its intended target.

The UAE Ministry of Defence nevertheless stressed that the country remained fully prepared to respond to any potential threat.

It also urged UAE residents to obtain information only from official sources and avoid rumors and misinformation.

Lark Island Strike

The developments followed a U.S. military strike on Lark Island in the Persian Gulf, where U.S. forces said they had targeted two Iranian missile-launch systems.

Lark Island is one of Iran’s key oil-export hubs in the Persian Gulf, with terminals handling a significant portion of the country’s crude oil exports.

Iran has described its attacks against U.S. positions in Jordan and the UAE as retaliation for the U.S. strike on the island.

The competing claims have not been independently verified, while the UAE’s Defense Ministry has confirmed only the interception of one drone in its airspace and has denied that Al Minhad Air Base was targeted.
