US Carries Out Continued Airstrikes on Iran Amid Escalating Regional Tensions

Washington (Terror Monitor) — The United States carried out a series of airstrikes against targets across Iran on Friday, July 24, striking areas from the country's south to the north, following a warning by President Donald Trump over attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

Reuters reported that the latest strikes came as the United States continued a campaign of heavy daily air operations against Iran for nearly two weeks after a temporary ceasefire agreement failed.

The report said the latest attacks extended to targets in various parts of Iran, including remote coastal areas along the Caspian Sea.

The strikes followed President Trump's warning that if Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement did not stop attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea, the response would include “severe military punishment” against Tehran and its Houthi allies in Yemen.

The conflict has already disrupted maritime routes, with the Strait of Hormuz affected after Iran closed the passage, which previously carried around one-fifth of global crude oil and natural gas supplies.

Amid renewed US strikes on Iran and tensions with Saudi Arabia, the Houthis threatened to block commercial shipping in the Red Sea and impose a blockade on Saudi ports. The group later claimed attacks on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea.

Following the Houthi actions, President Trump issued a warning against any attempt to disrupt maritime traffic in the strategic waterway, raising concerns that the Iran war could expand into a broader regional conflict with new fronts opening.
