Washington, D.C. (Terror Monitor) — Explosions were heard in the southern Iranian coastal city of Sirik, according to Iranian state media, while authorities said investigations into the nature and extent of the incident are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on social media that it carried out airstrikes on multiple military targets inside Iran in response to an alleged Iranian attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to CENTCOM, Iranian forces targeted a Panama-flagged oil tanker carrying nearly 2 million barrels of crude oil as it passed near the Strait of Hormuz. In response, US forces struck what it described as Iranian military surveillance systems, communication centers, air defense installations, drone storage facilities, and capabilities related to laying naval mines.
US President Donald Trump also said in a social media statement that the strikes were carried out in response to violations of a ceasefire agreement. He claimed that Iranian missile and drone storage sites as well as radar installations were targeted.
Trump further warned that the United States could resort to even stronger military action if the situation escalates, adding that Iran could face severe consequences.
Iran has not yet issued an independent confirmation or detailed response to these claims. The situation remains tense, and further details are awaited.
