US Military Resumes Strikes on Iran as Tehran Vows Retaliation

Washington / Tehran (Terror Monitor) — The U.S. military has launched fresh strikes on Iran, targeting sites around the Strait of Hormuz, according to Terror Monitor.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said American aircraft carried out strikes on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) positions on Tuesday.

In a statement, CENTCOM said the strikes were conducted in response to attacks by the IRGC on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. forces deployed in the region.

Iran’s Fars News Agency reported that explosions were heard in Konarak, Chabahar, Bandar Abbas, Sirik and Qeshm.

Iranian media also reported explosions east of the southern port city of Bandar Abbas and said U.S. forces had targeted Jiroft Airport in southeastern Iran.

Authorities in Iran’s Hormozgan province said the U.S. strikes took place near the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

Ahmad Nafisi, deputy governor of Hormozgan for political, security and social affairs, said most of the sounds were linked to tensions in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, adding that no casualties had been reported in the province at that time.

Nafisi said the attacks were observed in Hormozgan province and along coastal areas.

Meanwhile, the deputy governor of Sistan and Baluchestan province for security affairs said four projectiles had landed in the cities of Chabahar and Konarak.

Iran’s state news agency also reported that Iran had launched missiles at “U.S. bases in Jordan.”

Iranian sources identified the Muwaffaq Salti air base in Jordan as a target of what they described as a new IRGC missile attack, while reports said warning sirens sounded in Jordan.

Iranian state media reported that four people were killed in a U.S. strike in the Sirik area of Hormozgan province.

The deputy governor of Hormozgan for security affairs told Iranian broadcaster IBC that a U.S. strike on a wedding ceremony in a mountainous village near Sirik killed four people and wounded around 50 others.

Iran’s state radio and television broadcaster reported that a four-year-old child was among those killed in the strike.

Iranian news outlets published images from the site of the airstrike showing rescue and relief operations underway.

The IRGC also claimed that it had shot down or targeted a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone in retaliation for the American strikes.

The IRGC warned that the latest U.S. attacks had “tightened the siege of the Strait of Hormuz” and said they had strengthened its resolve to confront foreign forces intervening in the strategic waterway.

About an hour after multiple U.S. airstrikes were reported in southern Iran, Iranian military sources announced missile attacks against U.S. bases in Jordan and released images they attributed to the strikes.

Trump Warns of ‘Harsh and Broad’ Response

U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if Iran retaliates, the American response this time would be “harsh and broad.”

Earlier, CENTCOM confirmed that U.S. forces had targeted IRGC positions in Iran.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said the United States had carried out “legitimate” strikes against Iran on Tuesday night and warned that Washington would launch another attack if Tehran retaliated.

Trump had earlier said the United States would respond “harshly” to an IRGC attack on American bases in Jordan. Iran described its attack as retaliation for the latest U.S. strikes.
