Quetta (Terror Monitor) — Security forces have killed 15 militants in intelligence-based operations conducted across several districts of Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, according to security sources.
The operations were carried out in Mastung, Bolan, Washuk, Awaran, Sibi, Khuzdar, Harnai and Nushki districts, the sources said.
According to the sources, 15 militants were killed during the operations, while a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered.
The security sources said the operations dealt a significant blow to militant networks operating in the province. Further search and clearance operations are reportedly underway in several areas.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the operations and said the killing of 15 militants had thwarted the “malicious designs” of what he referred to as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij.
Naqvi said security personnel fighting terrorism were a source of pride for the nation and vowed that militant groups would be eliminated from Balochistan.
Pakistani authorities use the term Fitna al-Hindustan for militants affiliated with the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), while Fitna al-Khawarij is used for militants affiliated with the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
