Four Women Killed in Explosion at House in Pakistan-Administered Kashmir

Muzaffarabad (Terror Monitor) — Four women were killed and a girl was injured in an explosion at a house in Pindi village in Bagh district of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, officials said.
The nature and cause of the blast remain unclear, with conflicting accounts emerging from local authorities and the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee.
Bagh Deputy Commissioner Mumtaz Kazmi told local media that a hand grenade exploded inside a house in Pindi village, killing four women and injuring a girl. The injured girl was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Kazmi said the village was located some distance from Bagh city and that security personnel had been dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident.
However, a senior local administration official said it was too early to determine the exact cause of the explosion. According to the official, a woman had been cooking in the kitchen at the time, and a gas cylinder was also present inside the house.
The official cautioned that the available information did not conclusively establish whether the explosion had been caused by a gas cylinder. Further details were expected to emerge after the injured girl regained consciousness and could provide additional information about the incident.
Conflicting Accounts Over Cause of Blast
The banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee alleged that security agencies had targeted the house. The allegation has not been independently verified, and authorities have not publicly confirmed that the explosion resulted from a security operation.
A local administration official said police and Rangers personnel had been stationed at a checkpoint approximately three kilometres from the site of the explosion.
The conflicting accounts have left key questions unanswered, including whether the blast was caused by a grenade, a gas cylinder or another source.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the explosion and establish what happened inside the house.
The incident has raised concerns among local residents as officials work to determine the cause of the blast that killed four women and injured a girl.
