Nine Militants Killed in Pakistani Security Operations in Balochistan’s Kachhi and Wadh Districts

Islamabad (Terror Monitor) —Pakistani security forces have killed nine suspected militants during two intelligence-based operations in the southwestern province of Balochistan, the military said on Wednesday, as counterterrorism operations continue amid a rise in militant violence across the country.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted on October 26 in Kachhi and Wadh districts following intelligence reports about the presence of militants.

Seven militants were killed during an exchange of fire in Kachhi district, where security forces raided and destroyed a suspected militant hideout. Two additional militants were killed during a separate operation in Wadh district, the military said.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered during both operations, according to the ISPR statement. The military did not publicly identify the nine individuals or provide details about the weapons seized.

The ISPR described the targets as members of what the Pakistani state calls “Fitna al-Hindustan,” a designation used by Islamabad for militant groups operating in Balochistan that it alleges receive Indian support. The allegations of Indian sponsorship are Pakistan’s position and were not independently established in the military statement.

Seven militants killed in Kachhi operation

The first operation was conducted in Kachhi district after security forces received intelligence about the presence of suspected militants.

According to the ISPR, troops located and destroyed a militant hideout, triggering an intense exchange of fire in which seven militants were killed.

Security personnel recovered weapons and ammunition from the site, the military said, without disclosing the exact types or quantities of the material seized.

The operation formed part of Pakistan’s continuing counterterrorism campaign in Balochistan, a resource-rich province that has experienced a long-running insurgency and repeated attacks on security personnel and infrastructure.

Two more killed in Wadh district

In a separate intelligence-based operation in Wadh district, security forces tracked and intercepted the movement of suspected militants.

The operation resulted in an exchange of fire in which two additional militants were killed, the ISPR said.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered during the operation.

The military said clearance operations were continuing in the affected areas to locate and eliminate any other suspected militants who might be present.

Such follow-up operations are commonly conducted after security raids to search for additional suspects, weapons and explosives and to assess whether militant infrastructure remains in the area.

Shehbaz Sharif praises security forces

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for what he described as successful counterterrorism operations in Balochistan.

In a statement reported by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the prime minister said the fight against terrorism would continue until the threat was eliminated from the country.

Sharif said the efforts of security forces to eradicate terrorism and establish lasting peace were commendable, adding that militants seeking to undermine Pakistan’s security would not succeed in their objectives.

He also said the nation stood alongside the security forces in their campaign against terrorism.

Interior minister vows action against militants

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the security forces following the operations.

Naqvi described the reported successes against militants as significant and said the government remained committed to eliminating terrorist networks and their facilitators.

He used the government’s designation “Fitna al-Hindustan” while referring to the groups it accuses of receiving Indian support, warning that militants and their alleged facilitators would not be allowed to find safe havens.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused India of supporting militant activity in Balochistan. New Delhi has denied allegations of involvement in terrorism inside Pakistan.

The latest military statement did not provide independently verifiable evidence establishing a foreign link to the individuals killed in the two operations.

Counterterrorism operations intensify across Balochistan

The latest operations come amid an intensification of security activity across Balochistan, where separatist violence and attacks on security personnel have remained persistent concerns.

In a separate announcement on October 23, the ISPR said security forces had killed 10 suspected militants, including a woman, during operations in Gwadar following attempted attacks near the Gabd border crossing and in Gwadar city.

Earlier in October, the military reported additional operations in Washuk, Quetta, Nushki, Khuzdar and Mastung districts.

The operations form part of the broader counterterrorism campaign being conducted under the government’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.

The campaign aims to disrupt militant networks, dismantle their operational infrastructure and prevent further attacks.

Balochistan’s security challenges include a long-running separatist insurgency led by groups such as the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which has claimed attacks on Pakistani security forces, Chinese nationals and infrastructure projects. The province also faces other forms of militant violence, requiring security agencies to conduct operations against different organisations.

Rising militant violence across Pakistan

The operations also come amid a broader increase in militant attacks across Pakistan.

According to figures cited by Pakistani media from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), the country recorded 225 militant attacks in September 2026, compared with 199 in August. The report described September’s total as the highest monthly figure in 12 years.

Balochistan accounted for 131 attacks, or 58.2 per cent of the nationwide total recorded by the institute.

The figures underline the pressure facing security agencies in the province, where attacks have targeted law enforcement personnel, government installations and infrastructure.

Pakistan has repeatedly called for stronger action against militant organisations and their alleged support networks. Islamabad has also pressed neighbouring Afghanistan to prevent its territory from being used by armed groups to plan or launch attacks inside Pakistan, allegations that the Afghan Taliban authorities have disputed.

Clearance operations continue

The ISPR said follow-up clearance operations were underway in Kachhi and Wadh to ensure that no additional suspected militants remained in the areas.

Authorities have not reported further details about casualties among security personnel or civilians during the two operations.

The military said Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign would continue under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework, with security forces and law enforcement agencies maintaining pressure on militant networks.

The latest announcement brings the reported number of militants killed in the two October 26 operations to nine, although the identities of those killed and the specific organisational affiliations of the individuals were not independently confirmed in the available reporting.
