Houthi Attack on Yemen’s Red Sea Port of Mokha Kills 7, Wounds 30

Sana’a (Terror Monitor) — A Houthi missile and drone attack on Yemen’s Red Sea port city of Mokha killed seven people, including four members of the country’s internationally recognized armed forces and three civilians, while 30 others were wounded, the Yemeni military said Monday.

Reports from Sana’a, the Houthi-controlled capital of Yemen, said the latest attack targeted civilian infrastructure and military positions in Mokha, a strategic coastal city on the Red Sea.

In a statement issued Monday, the Yemeni military said, “Four members of the armed forces and three civilians have been killed, and 30 others injured.”

The military also said its air defense systems intercepted and shot down 11 armed drones used by the Houthis in the attack.

Footage broadcast by the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV showed multiple combat drones being launched toward Mokha along with several ballistic missiles, according to Reuters reports.

Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for the Iran-backed Houthi movement, said in a post on Telegram that the overnight attack between Sunday and Monday targeted Saudi-backed military forces and weapons depots in the area.

The Yemeni military, however, rejected the claim, saying the Houthis had targeted civilian facilities, residential areas and other infrastructure inside Mokha.
