Iran Claims Strike on US-Linked Targets After American Air Operations
· 123 views
Tehran (Terror Monitor) Iran has stated that it carried out strikes on targets linked to US forces in the region following American air operations in southern Iran. Earlier, the United States announced that it had targeted Iranian drone and missile facilities.
According to Iranian authorities, the operation was conducted in response to US airstrikes in Iran’s southern coastal areas. Tehran said the actions were carried out after what it described as violations of a ceasefire and a peace agreement framework between the two sides.
Iran did not provide specific details about the locations or nature of the targets it claims to have struck.
The situation has further escalated tensions in the Gulf region, where both countries have recently exchanged strikes, raising concerns over the stability of the fragile ceasefire.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused the United States of a “blatant violation” of the peace agreement framework established to end hostilities in the Middle East. It said US strikes had targeted coastal surveillance installations and violated the terms of the memorandum of understanding.
The US military stated that its forces had struck Iranian missile and drone storage sites as well as coastal radar installations, following an earlier incident involving an attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, which Washington attributed to Iran.
