Heir to Khan of Kalat, Prince Muhammad Khan, Abducted With Three Companions in Balochistan

QUETTA (Terror Monitor) — Prince Muhammad Khan, the eldest son and heir apparent of Khan of Kalat Mir Suleman Dawood, has allegedly been abducted along with three companions while travelling from Khuzdar to Kalat in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, according to family members and government sources.

The incident reportedly occurred during the night between Monday and Tuesday, when Prince Muhammad Khan was travelling to his residence in Kalat but failed to reach his destination.

Agha Umar Ahmedzai, Balochistan’s Parliamentary Secretary for Population Welfare and the brother of Mir Suleman Dawood, said his nephew had allegedly been abducted along with three other people while travelling between the two districts.

Ahmedzai said Prince Muhammad Khan was expected to arrive at his home in Kalat during the night but never reached his destination.

He added that Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau had visited his residence to discuss the incident and the situation surrounding the reported abduction.

Armed Men Allegedly Stopped Vehicle

A senior government official in Kalat, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Prince Muhammad Khan was travelling in a vehicle accompanied by his driver and two personal security guards.

According to the official, unidentified armed terrorists stopped the vehicle along the route, took the four occupants away and transported them to an undisclosed location.

Authorities are investigating the incident and making efforts to locate Prince Muhammad Khan and secure the release of the abducted individuals, the official said.

No group has been identified as responsible for the alleged abduction, and no claim of responsibility has been reported in the information available so far.

The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the precise location where the vehicle was intercepted, remain unclear.

Prince Muhammad Khan Is Heir to Khan of Kalat

Prince Muhammad Khan is the eldest son of Mir Suleman Dawood, the Khan of Kalat, and is regarded as his heir apparent.

The reported abduction has raised concerns because of the prominent status of the family in Balochistan and the security challenges facing travellers on the province’s highways.

Agha Umar Ahmedzai, who is both a relative of the family and a provincial parliamentary secretary, has discussed the matter with the provincial home minister, according to the account provided by family sources.

Officials have not yet announced further details about the investigation or the whereabouts of the four men.

Growing Security Concerns on Balochistan’s Highways

The incident comes amid continuing security concerns over reported abductions and other attacks on highways in Balochistan, a province that has experienced a prolonged insurgency and recurring violence.

Several major roads connect districts across the province, but security incidents have raised concerns about the safety of passengers, government officials and other travellers.

A few days before the reported abduction, Balochistan Additional Chief Secretary Hamza Shafqaat said measures were being taken to improve security on provincial highways during remarks alongside the provincial home minister.

Authorities have yet to release a detailed account of the alleged abduction of Prince Muhammad Khan and his three companions. Efforts to trace their whereabouts and establish responsibility for the incident are continuing.
