Pakistan: 7 TTP Militants Killed in Balochistan’s Kharan Operation

Islamabad (Terror Monitor) — Security forces killed seven militants affiliated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by Pakistani authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij, during an intelligence-based operation in Kharan district of Balochistan, security sources said.

According to the sources, the operation was conducted in the Lajay area of Kharan after intelligence indicated the presence of militants there. Seven TTP militants were killed and several others were injured during the operation.

Security sources said modern weapons, ammunition and other military equipment were recovered from the militants’ hideouts.

A motorcycle and two vehicles were also recovered from the locations, while security forces completely destroyed the militants’ hideouts.

The sources alleged that the militants were involved in extortion, kidnappings, targeted killings and planning suicide attacks.

Security forces are continuing operations against militants under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3, the sources said.

The operation came a day after security forces reported killing 10 militants affiliated with the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in Khuzdar district of Balochistan.

Pakistani authorities use the term Fitna al-Hind for militants affiliated with the outlawed BLA and Fitna al-Khawarij for militants affiliated with the outlawed TTP.
