Pakistan Army Kills 17 BLA and TTP Militants in Intelligence-Based Operations in Balochistan

Islamabad (Terror Monitor) — Pakistani security forces have killed 17 militants belonging to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in two separate intelligence-based operations in the insurgency-hit province of Balochistan, the military's media wing said on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on November 1 in Kachhi and Kharan districts as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts against armed militant groups operating in the province.

In the first operation, security forces conducted an intelligence-based raid in the Sanni area of Kachhi district after receiving information about the presence of militants.

During the operation, the militants attempted to block a road in the town by erecting barricades. However, security personnel responded promptly and foiled the attempt.

The military said 10 militants, allegedly operating under Indian patronage, were killed during the ensuing engagement. A substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the site.

In a separate operation in Kharan district, security forces tracked down and destroyed a militant hideout following intelligence reports about the presence of armed militants.

An intense exchange of fire took place during the operation, resulting in the deaths of seven militants affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, which the Pakistani military refers to as Fitna al-Khawarij.

The ISPR said the militants killed in Kharan were also allegedly operating with Indian backing. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the destroyed hideout.

Pakistani soldier killed during operation

The military said a Pakistani Army soldier was killed during the intense exchange of fire in Kharan.

The soldier was identified as 25-year-old Sepoy Hikmat Ullah, a resident of Karak district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the ISPR, he fought bravely against the militants before being killed during the engagement.

The military expressed its resolve to continue counterterrorism operations until all militant networks operating in the country are eliminated.

Counterterrorism operations continue

The ISPR said clearance operations were continuing in the affected areas to eliminate any remaining militants and ensure that the networks responsible for terrorist activities were dismantled.

It added that Pakistan's security forces remained committed to eradicating what it described as the menace of terrorism supported and sponsored by external actors.

Balochistan has witnessed a prolonged insurgency involving separatist armed groups, particularly the BLA, which has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks against security forces, government installations and civilian targets.

The province also faces security threats from Islamist militant organisations, including the TTP, which has primarily carried out attacks in Pakistan's northwestern regions.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused India of supporting militant groups operating inside its territory, an allegation New Delhi has consistently rejected.

The latest operations underscore the continuing security challenges facing Pakistani authorities as they seek to contain insurgent and militant activity across Balochistan.
