Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — Five personnel were killed and one was wounded in two separate attacks by unidentified armed terrorists in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province within the span of about one hour, police said.
The first attack took place near the Bypass Road, where terrorists opened fire on personnel of the Highway Traffic Police. Police said driver Constable Habib was killed at the scene, while Head Constable Subhan was wounded in the attack.
The second attack occurred at around 11:30 a.m. near Qureshi Mor, where personnel of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) were performing official duties. District Police Officer Ziauddin said two of those targeted were permanent FBR employees, while two private employees accompanying them were also present at the location.
Police said the two private employees were reportedly working on a contractual basis and had been present to assist the FBR personnel. Authorities have launched further investigations to establish their exact roles and circumstances surrounding the attack.
Rescue teams transported four bodies from the scene to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan. Authorities said investigations into both attacks were underway and a search operation had been launched to track down the perpetrators.
Growing Attacks in Dera Ismail Khan

On September 26, a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden vehicle into a joint checkpoint operated by police, customs and excise personnel at Aman Mela in Darazinda. The attack killed 12 people and wounded 35 others, including two customs officials among the fatalities.
TTP Activity
The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) remains active in Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas and has claimed responsibility for a number of attacks in the region.
Security and local sources say a TTP faction known as the TTP Gandapur Group is active in Dera Ismail Khan and has been involved in militant activity in the district and adjoining areas.
The repeated targeting of police, customs, FBR and other government personnel has raised concerns over the continued operational presence of TTP networks in the area. Security forces have intensified efforts to identify and dismantle terrorist cells operating in and around Dera Ismail Khan.
Authorities have not yet announced any arrests or claimed responsibility for the latest two attacks.
