Rawalpindi (Terror Monitor) — A Pakistan Army major was killed and five terrorists were eliminated during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the military’s media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces conducted an operation on August 1, 2026, in the Razmak area of North Waziristan following intelligence reports about the presence of militants affiliated with the banned group Fitna al-Khawarij.
According to the statement, security forces killed five terrorists during the operation, while an intense exchange of fire also resulted in the death of Major Hafiz Ehsan Elahi.
The ISPR said the 34-year-old officer, a resident of Mianwali district, was leading his troops from the front during the operation.
The military claimed that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists.
According to the ISPR, the militants were allegedly involved in various terrorist activities targeting security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians.
The statement added that a clearance operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists.
Pakistan uses the term “Khawarij” for militants associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
