Pakistan: Policeman Killed in Bannu Shooting, Another Abducted in Tank

PESHAWAR (Terror Monitor) — Two separate incidents in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province resulted in the killing of a police officer in Bannu and the abduction of another Policeman in Tank.

According to police, unidentified armed men opened fire on Special Branch police officer Noor Alam Khan near Masoomabad on the Bannu-Miranshah Road within the limits of Cantonment Police Station. He was attacked while he was on his way to duty from his home and died at the scene.

Police said the attackers escaped after the incident, while a search operation has been launched in the area. An investigation into the attack is underway.

Meanwhile, in Tank district, unidentified armed men allegedly abducted police officer Irfanullah, who was on leave and had returned to his hometown.

Police sources said Irfanullah is deployed as a wireless operator at Shaheed Mureed Akbar Police Station. He was reportedly taken from Sheikh Otar village and moved to an unknown location.

Tank District Police Officer said an investigation has been launched and efforts are underway to recover the missing police officer and arrest those involved in the abduction.
