Quetta (Terror Monitor) — Seven laborers abducted in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province have been killed after six more bodies were recovered in Kech district near the Iranian border, authorities said on Thursday.
According to local police, the six bodies were found in the Nasirabad area near Turbat, the district headquarters of Kech. All of the victims had been shot dead. The bodies were shifted to Turbat Teaching Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Balochistan Home Department spokesperson Babar Yousafzai said the victims were among seven laborers abducted two days earlier from the Kalatak area near Turbat. One of the abducted workers had been killed shortly after the kidnapping, while the remaining six were found dead on Thursday.
Yousafzai said four of the victims were from Punjab and two were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He condemned the killings and said those responsible would be brought to justice.
He alleged that the attack was carried out by militants backed by external elements seeking to undermine peace and stability in Balochistan. Pakistan refers to militants belonging to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as "Fitna al-Hindustan."
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the killings, describing them as a brutal and inhumane act.
Expressing condolences to the victims' families, Naqvi said the attackers had targeted innocent laborers and attempted to undermine peace and development in Balochistan.
He said militants referred to by Pakistan as "Fitna al-Hindustan" were now targeting unarmed civilians and vowed that those responsible would be tracked down and brought to justice.
Security has been tightened in the area, while police and other law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.
