Saudi-Led Coalition Strikes Yemen’s Ras Isa Port and Oil Facility, Houthis Say Seven Wounded

SANAA (Terror Monitor) — Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group said on Monday, November 2, that Saudi-led coalition airstrikes had hit a key Red Sea port and an oil facility in the western province of Hodeidah, leaving at least seven people wounded.

According to Houthi officials, four people were injured in strikes targeting the Ras Isa port, while three others were wounded in an attack on an oil company facility in the district of Bajil.

Anees Alasbahi, spokesperson for the Houthi-run Ministry of Health, announced the casualty figures in a post on social media platform X. He accused the Saudi-led coalition of repeatedly targeting civilian infrastructure and facilities considered important to Yemen’s economy.

The Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah television channel also reported that the attacks struck a pier and a commercial vessel at Ras Isa port. The reports did not provide a full assessment of the damage.

Strategic importance of Ras Isa

Ras Isa is a major oil terminal on Yemen’s Red Sea coast, north of Hodeidah city. The facility is used for importing and storing oil and fuel, while Hodeidah’s port is a major entry point for food, commercial goods and humanitarian assistance to areas controlled by the Houthis.

The latest reported strikes have therefore raised concerns over the impact of the renewed fighting on essential infrastructure and the delivery of supplies to Yemen, where millions of people depend on humanitarian assistance.

The Houthi-run authorities described the attacks as violations of international humanitarian law. Alasbahi said repeated strikes on oil facilities and major ports amounted to attacks on civilian infrastructure and alleged that they were part of a wider pattern of war crimes in Yemen.

Those accusations have not been independently established.

Coalition says operation targeted Houthi resources

The Saudi-led coalition said it had carried out what it described as a “precision operation” to neutralise vital resources used by the Houthis. The coalition characterised the targeted facilities as resources supporting the group’s military activities.

The competing accounts reflect the wider dispute over the military and economic infrastructure being targeted as fighting intensifies across Yemen.

Renewed cross-border escalation

The latest developments come amid an escalation in hostilities between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition, which supports Yemen’s internationally recognised government.

Saudi authorities issued security alerts on Monday for several areas, including Taif, Abha, Khamis Mushait and Najran. Saudi Civil Defence later announced that the threat had passed. The coalition also said it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards southern Saudi Arabia, according to Reuters.

The reported strikes in Hodeidah and the missile interception underscore the growing risk of further cross-border attacks, particularly against military and energy-related infrastructure.

The Houthis have repeatedly threatened Saudi interests and energy facilities. In late October, the group claimed to have struck the Ras Tanura oil refinery in eastern Saudi Arabia, although Saudi authorities had not confirmed that specific claim at the time.

A worsening conflict and humanitarian concerns

Yemen’s conflict has entered another period of heightened violence after a fragile truce broke down. The renewed fighting has raised concerns about civilian casualties, damage to critical infrastructure and disruption to trade and humanitarian deliveries.

The United Nations has reported that more than 1,600 people have been killed and over 300,000 displaced since fighting reignited, according to figures cited by international media.

With the latest attacks reported at Ras Isa and Bajil, the confrontation now carries further risks for Yemen’s already fragile economy and for regional security along the Red Sea, a vital route for international shipping.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had granted the government additional authority to pursue peace negotiations with the United States.
