Srinagar (Terror Monitor) — One migrant worker was killed and another critically injured after unidentified terrorists opened fire at a brick kiln in the Kulgam district of Indian-administered Kashmir on Friday evening, according to police.
Authorities said the attack took place in the Qaimoh area of Kulgam while the workers were on duty at the kiln.
According to officials, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the workers before fleeing the scene.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where one of them, identified as Deepak, a resident of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, succumbed to his injuries.
The second injured worker was shifted to the Government Medical College in Anantnag, where his condition remains critical.
Following the attack, the Indian Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the area and launched a large-scale search operation to track down the terrorists.
The incident marks the second major targeted attack in southern Kashmir in recent days. Earlier, a police officer was shot dead in the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag.
Security has been further tightened across the region following the recent attacks by terrorists targeting migrant workers and security personnel.
