Houthis Claim Saudi Arabia Carried Out Airstrikes in Yemen

Sana’a (Terror Monitor) — The Houthis have claimed that Saudi Arabia carried out airstrikes against several areas of Yemen.

According to the Houthi-run Saba News Agency, Saudi Arabia targeted various locations in the provinces of Al Jawf, Al Bayda, Marib and Taiz with airstrikes and cruise missiles.

The Houthis have launched an operation aimed at seizing control of areas adjacent to the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Since the Houthis launched the operation last Thursday, fighting between Houthi forces and Yemeni government forces has reportedly resulted in hundreds of deaths.

The Houthis, who refer to themselves as Ansar Allah, are allies of Iran and are fighting against Yemeni government forces, which are backed by Saudi Arabia.

The Houthis control northern Yemen, parts of the Red Sea coast and the capital, Sana’a.

The internationally recognized Presidential Leadership Council controls parts of eastern Yemen, the southern coastal strip and the port city of Aden.

The Houthis have announced a counter-blockade aimed at breaking the Saudi blockade and have been targeting Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea.
