Pakistan Condemns Houthi Attack in Red Sea That Killed Three Pakistanis

Islamabad (Terror Monitor) — Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday, August 12, condemned attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels on commercial vessels in the Red Sea, saying three Pakistani nationals were killed in a Houthi attack on a cargo ship.
Dar expressed his condolences to the families of the three Pakistani victims and strongly condemned attacks by the Houthis on commercial cargo vessels in the Red Sea.
One Pakistani national was also wounded in the attack that killed the three Pakistanis.
In a post on X, Dar said Pakistan condemned Houthi attacks on commercial vessels because such actions endanger innocent lives and violate the principles of safe commercial shipping and international maritime law.
Dar said Pakistan was in continuous contact with both Saudi Arabia and Yemen regarding the incident.
The three Pakistani nationals were apparently members of the crew of a Saudi cargo vessel targeted by the Houthis.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani Embassy in the Saudi capital Riyadh said it was coordinating with Saudi authorities to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies of the three Pakistanis to their grieving families in Pakistan.
