Quetta (Terror Monitor) - Pakistani security forces have killed Adil Shah, alias Darvesh, a highly wanted commander affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), during an intelligence-based operation in Qila Saifullah district of Balochistan, security sources said.
According to the sources, Shah had been associated with the TTP since December 2020 and had been overseeing the militant group's financial affairs since 2024.
The operation was conducted as part of Pakistan's ongoing counterterrorism efforts against militant networks operating in Balochistan and neighbouring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Further operational details, including the precise location of the raid and whether other suspects were present, were not immediately available.
Accused of Managing TTP Finances and Facilitating Militants
Security sources said Shah played a role in managing the TTP's financial operations and facilitating the movement and accommodation of militants in parts of Balochistan.
He was allegedly involved in arranging accommodation for non-local militants in Zhob, Sherani and Shaban, areas that have faced security concerns linked to militant activity.
The sources also accused Shah of involvement in attacks against security forces and kidnapping for ransom dating back to 2022 and 2023.
Authorities have not publicly provided further details about the specific incidents allegedly linked to the commander or the financial networks he was accused of managing.
Nineteen Cases Registered Against Commander
According to security sources, 19 cases had been registered against Shah in anti-terrorism courts.
The sources added that a reward of 2.5 million Pakistani rupees had been announced for information leading to his capture, reflecting his status as a wanted militant commander.
The allegations against Shah included involvement in militant activities, facilitating the accommodation of fighters and participating in attacks against security personnel.
The reported operation marks another action by Pakistani security forces against suspected TTP leadership and support networks in Balochistan.
Coualochistan and neighbouring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have experienced persistent militant violence, including attacks targeting security forces, police and civilians.
Pakistani authorities have repeatedly launched intelligence-based operations to locate suspected militants, disrupt their support networks and prevent further attacks.
The killing of Shah comes amid continued efforts to target individuals accused of facilitating militant movements and managing the logistical and financial arrangements of armed groups.
Security sources said operations against terrorist networks would continue as part of Pakistan's broader campaign to improve security and eliminate militant threats.
The claims concerning Shah's alleged role in TTP activities, the cases registered against him and the reward for his capture were provided by security sources and were not independently verified at the time of reporting.
