Pakistan: Six Suspected TTP Militants Killed in Lower Dir

PESHAWAR (Terror Monitor) — Six wanted terrorists were killed during a joint operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and district police in Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said on Tuesday.

According to a CTD statement, the operation was launched after intelligence reports indicated that a group involved in recent terrorist attacks was hiding in a mountainous area.

The CTD said the militants were also involved in the attack on the Badwan Bridge police checkpoint, in which Constable Muhammad Ismail was killed.

Security forces cordoned off the area and attempted to arrest the suspects. However, the terrorists opened fire, prompting security personnel to return fire in self-defense.

Following the exchange of fire, security forces conducted a search operation and recovered the bodies of six terrorists.

The deceased were identified as Khalil ur Rahman alias Saddam, Najmuddin alias Abu Janah, and Kifayatullah, while the identities of the remaining three are being verified.

According to preliminary information, the slain terrorists are believed to have been affiliated with the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Authorities said investigations are ongoing to formally verify their identities and organizational links.

Police also recovered weapons and ammunition from the scene, including assault rifles, hand grenades, and a large quantity of ammunition.

The CTD said search and clearance operations remain underway to trace any remaining militants and their facilitators in the area.
