BEIRUT (Terror Monitor) — Four people were killed on Monday after an Israeli drone struck a vehicle in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh, according to Lebanon's state news agency.
The agency reported that the victims included a school principal, her mother, a foreign domestic worker, and a Syrian laborer. They were reportedly returning home in the Nabatieh al-Fawqa area when their vehicle was targeted by what Lebanese authorities described as an Israeli drone.
Lebanon's state news agency described the incident as the deadliest strike in recent weeks. Lebanese security sources said attacks of this nature had declined over the past several weeks, but the Nabatieh strike resulted in the highest reported death toll during that period.
The Israeli military said it is reviewing the reports.
Israel has maintained a military presence in parts of southern Lebanon following its conflict with Hezbollah. The latest escalation began on March 2, when the Iran-backed Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran.
Fighting had eased in recent weeks. Observers said Iran had pushed for a ceasefire in Lebanon during its negotiations with the United States, while Israel also reduced the frequency of its strikes at Washington's request.
A provisional agreement reached last month between the United States and Iran called on both countries and their allies to halt military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon. However, the latest strike in Nabatieh has raised new concerns about the durability of that agreement and broader efforts to stabilize the region.
