PMF Says at Least 20 Members Killed in U.S.-Saudi Strikes in Iraq

BAGHDAD (Terror Monitor) — Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) said at least 20 of its members were killed and 32 others wounded in overnight joint U.S. and Saudi airstrikes targeting its positions in Iraq.
In a statement, the group said the casualty figures were based on preliminary assessments and could change as rescue and assessment efforts continue.
Earlier, both the United States and Saudi Arabia said they had carried out a joint operation targeting positions of Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq.
The Popular Mobilization Forces is an umbrella organization of predominantly Shiite militias and paramilitary groups in Iraq. According to BBC Persian, the PMF has close ties to Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force, and Tehran considers it a key component of its regional network of allied groups, commonly referred to as the "Axis of Resistance."
