Russia: Three Killed, 15 Injured in Explosion at Moscow Restaurant

Moscow (Terror Monitor) — At least three people were killed and 15 others injured in an explosion at a restaurant in Moscow on Saturday evening, according to Russian state media.

The blast occurred at around 8:00 p.m. local time near Kudrinskaya Square, close to the city center.

According to the Russian news agency TASS, investigators said a woman carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) attempted to enter the restaurant but was stopped by a security guard. The explosion killed both the woman and the security guard, while another person also died in the blast.

Initial reports suggested the explosion occurred inside the restaurant's kitchen. However, the restaurant later issued a statement saying everything inside was operating normally and that "the incident occurred outside."

Roads surrounding Kudrinskaya Square were temporarily closed following the explosion. A cycling event that was due to take place nearby was also canceled as a precaution.

Video released by the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti showed heavily armed law enforcement officers securing the scene while authorities cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
