Two Police Officers Killed in IED Attack in Pakistan’s Tank District

Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — Two police personnel, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), were killed and two others injured when terrorists targeted a police armored vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) in Tank district of Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to police officials, the attack took place near Masha Jan Bangla on the Tank–Waziristan Road, where a police armored vehicle was conducting routine patrol duties when a roadside IED exploded.

As a result of the blast, ASI Fareedullah and Constable Akhtar Zaman were killed, while Constables Abdul Malik and Qudratullah sustained injuries. The injured personnel were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Tank, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Following the attack, police and other security forces cordoned off the area, collected evidence from the scene, and launched a search operation to trace and arrest the attackers.

No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, while an investigation into the incident is underway.

Security officials said operations against militants in the region are continuing as part of efforts to improve security in Tank and surrounding areas.
